Predicting crime in Athens: A Machine Learning approach

Our graduate student Maria Eleni Vardaki, presented at CEPOL’s Research and Science Conference in Vilnius her thesis entitled: “Predicting crime in Athens: A Machine Learning approach”. She represented the Master of Science Program “Digital Media and Interaction Environments” of Athens National and Kapodistrian University’s Department of Communications and Mass Media.

The CEPOL’s Research and Science Conference was organized together with Mykolas Romeris University, and included 70 papers, presentations, and live demonstrations, informing about the impact of new groundbreaking technologies like Artificial Intelligence or advanced tool will have on the work and cooperation of law enforcement officials across Europe and beyond. The event focused on the challenge, of how to best prepare for this fast-developing “Digital Age”.
